If you have someone in your family or church for whom you would like to request special prayers, please email me, and the names you send will be added to the list. If you have a need that is deeply personal and would rather not go into any details, that's fine. We can just list it as a personal request.
2/16/09: UPDATE AND PRAISE: Mark and Parker's baby, Isabelle, is growing and thriving in the village of Ayorou. She is the first white baby that most of the villagers have seen, so she gets a lot of attention. When Janis and I visited the village in January we witnessed this first-hand -- so much so that we called her "The Princess of Ayorou!

1/4/09: PRAISE!! After centuries of darkness, God is working in Ayorou, slowly opening the ancient gates of Songhai tradition and religion! Mark baptized Ela, who was the second adult male to break away from the very strong traditions of this ancient Songhai village. Ela is a native of the village with strong Songhai roots and is respected in the village. Since then there have been eight new believers who have accepted Jesus as their Savior - seven in one week! It was a special joy for Mark to see a Songhai man baptize another Songhai man! As we celebrate God's work there, please also continue to pray:
* That many others in the village will respond to the gospel.
* For the new believers in Ayorou, who are the first Christians in the history of Ayorou!
* For protection and health for Mark, Parker and Isabelle.
